M'Kayla Smith, LPC (she/her/hers)

I'M HAPPY TO MEET YOU!

My name is M'Kayla! I love dark chocolate, sweet tea, and anything with glitter.

A little about my professional background: I am a Licensed Professional Counselor or LPC for short. I earned both my Master's Degree in Counseling and Bachelor's Degree in General Studies from West Texas A&M University. I completed my internship and practicum with Alliance for Children in Fort Worth, Texas. I primarily focused on seeing children who have experienced trauma, but also gained experience with family sessions, group therapy, and adult clients while I learned my trade. I am currently the Lead Therapist for a local outpatient program, where I strive to give clients the best mental health treatment. I have experience with both inpatient and outpatient settings, trauma therapy, group therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, and play therapy. I have chosen to focus mainly on the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mixed with Person-Centered Therapy,  in which I can both empower my clients and help them meet their individual goals.

Some fun, yet still professional tidbits about me: I am a snacker by nature. I'd rather have snacks over a meal any day. I love to dance to any music and TikTok is my jam. My favorite color switches between rainbow and glitter (yes, both are a color- we don't discriminate around here!). I can do the laundry all day long, but unload the dishwasher? No way. I strongly believe that each individual is worthy of love, acceptance, and kindness, no matter their story.

Having my own practice has been a dream of mine and I am so honored you stopped by. I can't wait to hear your take on laundry and dishes, snacks versus meals, and your view of the world.
